Selected series
Directed concepts and staged moments, shaped by light and intention.
Portraits built on presence, restraint, and the quiet confidence of a subject who is seen.
Studio studies where direction, costume, and light are arranged into a single composed image.
Theatrical frames that hold the drama of costume, gesture, and performance still.
Himawan Mursalim works at the meeting point of portrait and directed concept, shaping people, costume, and light into images that feel composed yet alive. Every frame is built deliberately: the subject, the set, and the mood arranged until the photograph says exactly what it should.
Set the scene and the intention before the shutter opens, so nothing about the final frame is left to chance.
Shape the subject with controlled light, soft or hard, warm or cold, until the tone matches the idea.
Draw the expression, the gesture, and the presence out of a person rather than posing over them.
Look closely. Stay long enough for the ordinary to become visible.
